Not to be a scrooge, but I always appreciate some festive side dishes on the lighter end of the butter and sugar spectrum. Topping this dish with toasted nuts makes it feel special…but what kind of nuts? Hazelnuts? Pecans? Walnuts? Pine nuts? It’s your call!! I did Marcona almonds one year (they come already roasted and salted to save yourself a step) and that was a big hit….
P.S. If you want to make it more festive looking, shower it with some pomegranate arils right before serving.
