Lunar New Year-Inspired Steamed Fish
Lunar New Year has me thinking about fish. In Chinese culture, having a whole steamed fish as part of your Lunar New Year feast is pretty mandatory. It’s symbolic of abundance, good fortune and wealth. And it’s sooo delicious. I absolutely love cooking whole fish but if you’ve never done it, steaming a whole fish may be intimidating to many. So today let’s start smaller and steam a fillet of fish.
This method is easy, quick, and packed with flavor from a great sauce. First a little ginger, garlic, and scallion (you can use the scraps from the sauce ingredients) are tossed in the steaming water which lightly infuses the fish as it cooks. Don’t have a steamer?
